Construction Interns will assist Project Managers and Project Superintendents in project planning, buyout, project management, and closeout.
This role will involve assisting in obtaining, coordinating and distributing the information and authorizations required to construct the project on time, within budget and to the Landmark’s quality standards.
The Summer Internship dates are June 3, 2024 - August 9, 2024.
Reports to: Project Manager Direct Reports: N/A Duties/Responsibilities: The duties listed below are an outline of the role’s responsibilities and should not be considered an all-inclusive list.
As the needs of the organization change, these duties may be modified as needed.
Construction Interns will learn about: Landmark processes and procedures as they relate to managing the project.
Landmark safety and quality management programs and ensure contractor compliance.
Managing the project budget by controlling expenditures, coordinating billings, and identifying work not covered by subcontractor.
How to maintain RFI logs and change request log.
Construction interns will assist with: Ensuring the overall success of costs and schedule.
Reviewing and processing submittal data and shop drawings.
Coordinating submittals, RFI’s, deliveries and inspections, along with analyzing how they affect the project schedule.
Completing daily logs, status reports and weekly subcontractor meeting minutes.
Change requests, change proposals for price reviews.
Documenting and taking progress photos of job site.
Resolving punch-list issues prior to occupancy.
Obtaining occupancy of the project.
Maintaining closeout log and obtaining all closeout documents, warranties and log information.
Obtaining Certificate of Substantial Completion.
Assembling and preparing final record documents for the project at the conclusion of the job and store them in a secure location.
Participate in team meetings.
Maintain the highest possible professionalism at all times and promote good relations and communications on the project.
Recognize, report, and solve problems in a creative, positive, constructive way and make recommendations for improvements in systems, procedures, and policies.
Education & Experience Seeking a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Building Science or Architecture preferred.
1+ year of applicable coursework.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.
Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
Positive and collaborative attitude with strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Critical thinker and self-starter capable of accomplishing a task with limited guidance and supervision.
Strong computer skills.
