King Estate Winery seeks a Landscaping & Garden Manager.
This position will oversee all certified organic landscapes on the estate, including manicured beds, natural habitat, fruit, flowers and vegetable production.
They will be responsible for determining design layout, plant selections, and growing conditions.
The ideal candidate will be proactive in identifying problems like disease, weed and insect pressure as well as promote and present the organic status, benefits and natural areas of the estate during inspections as well as to visitors and guests.
*Essential Job Duties:*
· Landscape of the entire estate
o Prioritizing daily projects
o Delegating tasks to crew
o Inspection of the grounds
o Seasonal Maintenance
o Preparation of soil for planting
o Irrigation design, maintenance and installation
· Train crews regarding the care of trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials, edible fruits and vegetables as well as turf maintenance.
· Determine types of quantities of horticulture selections based on budgetary and sight considerations.
· Prepare and adhere to annual budget
· Engage with and educate our VIP guests of our organic and sustainable practice during tours.
· Manage existing apiary, including seasonal inspection & maintenance, swarm control and honey harvest.
· Keep records of all cultivation, inputs, planting and harvests.
· Represent the garden and landscape departments in annual inspections by Oregon Tilth and Demeter USA.
*Requirements:*
· 5+ years horticulture experience.
· Proven team management experience.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work overtime and have a flexible schedule.
· Safety orientated.
· Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
· Bilingual – Spanish and English a plus.
· Experience working directly with regulatory certification bodies such as USA, OTCO and Demeter
· Working knowledge in Organic and sustainable landscape, farm and garden management.
Wage commensurate with experience and qualifications.
