General Statement of Duties The City of Eugene Information Services Division (ISD) is accepting applications for a PC Network Technician The Information Services Division builds and maintains the City's technologies to meet the evolving needs of the community.
Our PC Network Technicians play an important role as technical experts that provide solutions to our customers.

As part of our dynamic team, you will serve as the face of ISD and the voice of our customers as you proactively work to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve customer requests, incidents and problems within an ITIL framework, and will assist with IT hardware and software asset lifecycle management.

We serve as IT technical experts; helping users troubleshoot issues and solve problems in a Windows-based environment with computers, data and equipment.

The scope of ISD operations includes: Supporting an environment spanning over 2,500 user accounts and 6,000 IT assets.
Collaboration with technical and non-technical staff that provide services to citizens.
Providing services while maintaining data integrity and mitigating risk to the organization.
51 city facilities throughout the community connected by high-speed fiber optic network.
More than 300 business software systems.
More than 2 million visits to the City website per year.

PC Network Technician 1, $69,534.
400 - $ $86,652.
80 Annually PC Network Technician 2, $72,633.
60 - $90,542.
40 Annually *The City of Eugene determines starting pay within the range based on relevant education and experience as provided by the applicant in their application materials.

Department/Division: Central Services/Information Services Division Work Location: 100 W 10th Ave, Fourth Floor, Eugene OR 97401 Must reside in the state of Oregon and be able to report onsite for work as needed in Eugene, OR to meet business needs.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.
Schedules are based on business need and filled based on seniority.
Hybrid, remote, and on-site work options may be available.
This position qualifies for Bilingual Pay Benefit.

Examples of Duties Performed - Duties may include but are not limited to the following PC Network Technician 1 Level: Provide quality, comprehensive customer service to City staff, ensuring that needs are met and that problems are solved.
Research and resolve requests and incidents in a timely manner.
Document work effectively to ensure proper data governance.
Act as primary support technicians to provide advice and gather information.
Assist customers by working from the Service desk remotely and independently in the field.
Configure, install, and upgrade operating systems, software, and equipment.
Troubleshoot problems with computer systems, including hardware, software, email, network, and peripheral equipment (printers, scanners, etc.
) Respond to security incidents to ensure City data is secured and City systems continue to operate safely.
Provide feedback to ensure that systems and processes undergo continual improvement.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as required by management to meet the needs of the organization.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PC Network Technician 1 Experience: Two years of recent experience in the maintenance and repair of computers and related peripherals and installing software.
One year of service desk experience is preferred.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
License or Certificate Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certification or equivalent Microsoft certification.
If the technician is not in possession of the required certification, the City will provide or finance the training.
PC Network Technician 2 Experience: Five years' progressive and recent experience in maintenance, computer service calls, and daily hands-on repair of computers and peripheral equipment.
Virtual private network and wireless experience is required.
One year in a lead role is preferred.
Two years of computer-related purchasing experience is preferred.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Two-year computer repair training / degree desirable.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
License or Certificate Possession of, or ability to obtain and maintain, a Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) certification or equivalent Microsoft certification.
If the technician is not in possession of the required certification, the City will provide or finance the training.
MUST PASS A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK The ideal candidate will have the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of: ITIL Service Management processes and procedures, including Incident, Request, and Problem resolution.
Customer service best practices, including active listening.
Familiarity with Windows-based networks, including Active Directory Principles and procedures of PC, printer, and network installation, operation, and maintenance.
Hazards and safety precautions involving computer equipment and Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) repair work.
Integration of diverse network components such as: Ethernet, fiber connections, switches, bridges, specialty devices, PCs, and printers.
Familiarity with diagnosing and resolving issues related to malware, viruses and phishing attempts.
Familiarity with desktop and server management tools such as SCCM, OMS/SCOM and PRTG monitoring.
Diagnosing and repairing computers, networks, and related equipment using a variety of power and manual tools, equipment standard to computer equipment repair, electronic diagnostic tools, software diagnostic utilities, and network diagnostic equipment.
Ability to: Configure, install, and establish network connections for City PCs including installing and testing electronic components of PCs, loading software, and configuring hard drives both manually and using automation tools such as SCCM.
Install and manage IP Telephony phones and systems.
Configure equipment within a network environment.
Troubleshoot LAN-based PCs and laptop computers; resolve problems within an environment of multiple operating systems, protocols, software applications, and hardware components.
Resolve software issues such as memory management, reconciliation of firmware settings, and custom configurations.
Assist Network Operations team in isolating and resolving network problems.
Stay current with newest technology.
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports, with strong verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail.
Establish effective working relationships with City employees and contractors.
Perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, and reaching in awkward positions.
Effectively and proactively manage your own workload, including setting reasonable timelines with customers, coworkers and peers.

Supplemental Information What to Expect from our Selection Process: Applicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience, and training.
The selection process varies according to the position and can include such things as screening of supplemental questionnaires, written or skill tests, ability or fitness tests, interviews, and assessment processes.
In addition, background investigations and records checks may be required.

Bilingual Pay Benefit: Per the AFSCME contract, the City shall pay an employee an additional five percent (5%) for a required intermediate or advanced level competency.
To qualify for bilingual pay, the employee must have demonstrated fluency in the required language and successfully pass a fluency examination administered by the City's Employee Resource Center division.
