We are seeking a Shop Helper/Equipment Detailer to join our team! Under the supervision of trained mechanics, this position will assist in cleaning, maintaining, and servicing various types of vehicles and heavy equipment (rock drills, excavators, rock crushers, haul trucks etc.
) out of our shop in Springfield, OR.
This position is responsible for ensuring that equipment and machinery is thoroughly cleaned, free of dirt, grime, and other contaminants.
Beyond cleaning, this position may also perform basic maintenance tasks and inspections to identify any repairs or issues that require attention.
Additionally, this position is responsible for meticulously maintaining the shop and yard organization and cleanliness.
Successful candidates for this position must be self-motivated, have an attention to detail, and a basic understanding of equipment maintenance.
Strong communication skills are necessary to coordinate with team members, supervisors, and maintenance personnel to ensure a smooth workflow and efficient equipment servicing schedules.

COMPENSATION: - Starting wage: $18.
00/hour - Potential promotional path with on-the-job training.
- Full benefit package SCHEDULE: - Typical shift is Monday – Friday 7am – 3:30pm (this schedule is flexible- i.
e.
start earlier during summer months).
- Overtime is available upon approval.
QUALIFICATIONS: - Minimum age: 18 years (to be able to operate pressure washer).
- Valid Oregon driver’s license with a driving record that includes no more than 3 moving violations and/or chargeable accidents in the last 3 years and no DUIIs.
- Successful background check through the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to screen felony records as appropriate in compliance with federal government restriction.
- Pre-employment drug test and physical.
For safety reasons, we have a zero-tolerance drug policy, including marijuana use.
- Experience working in a shop/service environment preferred.
SKILLS PREFERRED: - Positive attitude, quick learner, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision to manage workload.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: - Ability to handle physically demanding tasks.
- Standing, walking, climbing, and moving for extended periods while operating the pressure washer and cleaning equipment.
- Agile and able to navigate elevated platforms and confined spaces safely.
- The job is performed outdoors in various weather conditions, such as heat, cold and rain.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Meticulously maintains the shop and yard’s organization and cleanliness through the implementation of a 5S program (Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
- Uses a pressure washer, to clean and remove dirt, grease, grime, and other debris from vehicles and a variety of heavy equipment.
This may involve using various cleaning agents and detergents appropriate for the specific equipment being cleaned.
- Thoroughly cleans the interior of vehicles and cabs of equipment.
- Conducts visual inspections of equipment before and after cleaning to identify any damage, wear and tear, or potential issues.
Reports any findings to supervisors or maintenance personnel for further action.
- Collaborates with Product Support team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure proper coordination of cleaning schedules, equipment availability, and any special requirements.
- May assist in performing basic maintenance tasks on equipment, such as lubricating moving parts, changing filters, or replacing worn-out components.
Informs the Product Support team of any significant repairs or malfunctions that require their attention.
- Performs parts runs to field locations on occasion.
- Safely operates grinder to sharpen dull steel drill bits and reports re-sharpened bits to inventory.
- Assists Safety Coordinator with performing monthly shop inspections and walk-throughs.
- Performs any or all other duties as necessary to satisfy job requirements.
SAFETY: - Adheres to safety protocols and guidelines while operating the pressure washer and handling cleaning agents.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as fall protection, safety glasses, and safety footwear to ensure personal safety.
- Adheres to OSHA Heat-Related rules to protect against heat-related illnesses (proper breaks, rest, water, shade etc.
).
- Adheres to OSHA Wildfire smoke rules to protect against wildfire smoke hazards.
- Maintains cleanliness in designated workspace by practicing 5S principles to reduce safety risks.
- Attends weekly department team meetings.
