Position Overview: The City of Springfield is seeking to fill a Building Maintenance Worker position in the Development & Public Works Operations Division.
The Building Maintenance Worker performs a wide variety of building maintenance and mechanical repairs which include HVAC diagnosis and repairs, plumbing repairs (that do not require plumbing license), install and change-out door locks and various door lock/gate systems.
This position is also responsible for repairs or modifications to buildings which include: windows, doors, siding, and some fabricating.

Summary of Essential Duties: Duties may include: • performs general carpentry duties• makes minor adjustments to mechanical and plumbing• performs HVAC work including making adjustments to the computer controls and some minor adjustments to dampers• coordinates work with vendors and contractors as needed• paints and lays carpet and flooring• activates and monitors security systems, sprinkler systems, and fire alarm systems• works with internal groups and outside organizations on programs and projects involving City buildingsFor the complete Building Maintenance Worker job description, please see the City’s classifications page: Building-Maintenance-Worker_2021-3.

gov)Training & Experience: The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications.
Such a way to meet minimum qualifications could include: • High School Diploma or GED, and;• A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience related to the area of building maintenance and repair, to include basic construction and maintenance of mechanical units, heating and cooling, and plumbing.
Licenses and Certifications: • A valid Oregon driver’s license at time of appointment• Ability to obtain security certification (CJIS) within 30 days of hire and maintain certifications throughout the course of employment.
The Building Maintenance Worker position will have access to the Police Department and must obtain CJIS certification.
Please note that in order to acquire CJIS certification, the individual cannot have any felony convictions, and any other criminal record is at the discretion of the certifying agency.
CJIS requires finger printing as well.
Required Certifications after Appointment: Though not required at time of hire, the following certifications will be required through on-the-job training/certification: • Forklift Training• Respirator Training• First Aid• CPR• And, any other trainings/certifications required to perform job tasks Physical Requirements: Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of forces constantly to move objects.

Position requires the ability to lift objects that could weigh a maximum of 80 pounds.
