We are seeking an Aesthetics professional to support our Eugene, OR partner, Dr.
Lee B Daniel Aesthetic Plastic Surgery in the role of Scrub Technician.
Job Purpose: Acts as a member of the surgical team that works in the sterile field and assists the surgeon while maintaining systems and surgical instruments in the surgery center.
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday & Fridays
Responsibilities:
Responsible for assuring all procedure room equipment, excluding the anesthesia machine, is in ready working order for procedures
Assists in pulling instruments and supplies for the following day’s cases
Check counters and equipment surfaces for the absence of dust – remove with appropriate cloth if dust is present
Collects, contains , and counts sponges and needles with another OR staff member
When scrubbed, is responsible for:
Assisting with the draping of patients
Conveniently arranging instruments and supplies
Opens and prepares sutures
Assists the surgeon throughout the procedure by providing sterile instruments and supplies
Being alert to possible or actual breaks in sterile technique and reporting the same
Assists in cleaning instruments and nursing areas in the Center
Assist as needed in cleaning the OR under the supervision of the OR Nursing Staff in between cases and at the end of each day procedures are performed
Ensures that the OR is clean before the commencement of the first case
Conveniently arranges instruments and supplies in the storage areas
Performs other tasks as part of the OR team as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor and/or other OR nursing staff members including retrieving phone messages, assisting with transportation of patients to and from the OR, assisting with supplies maintenance and ordering, etc.
Cleans all instruments after procedures
Prepares packs and sterilizer packs for next use
Review supplies daily to ensure proper supply for future cases
Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved course for OR Surgical Technologists or equivalent training required
Surgical Technologist Certification preferred and/or equivalent training (CST)
BLS Required
Surgical scrub experience is preferred
Technical training to include aseptic technique and sterile processing required
Extensive knowledge of instrumentation and equipment required for multiple specialties required
Extensive knowledge regarding sterile processing requirements required
An excellent understanding of infection control processes required
Ability to communicate well with other healthcare professionals as well as with lay persons required
Ability to operate and trouble-shoot surgical equipment required
Must be able to operate washer decontaminators, autoclaves, and other sterilizing equipment
Computer skills are required
