Department Summary The Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact is a billion-dollar initiative designed to fast-track scientific discoveries and the process of turning those discoveries into innovations that improve the quality of life for people in Oregon, the nation, and beyond.
The Knight Campus will reshape the higher education landscape in Oregon by training the next generations of scientists, forging tighter ties with industry and entrepreneurs, and creating new educational opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students.
The Lindberg lab explores smart chemical and biological toolkits for bio fabrication of advanced 3D models and organoids.
Position Summary The Research Engineer will be responsible for conducting research and technical activities related to sponsored projects in Dr.
Lindberg's lab; This research project will be focused on advanced bioinks and thermoplastic scaffolds for 3D Bioprinting of hybrid constructs for bone marrow models.
Developing physio-mimetic bone marrow tissue models to study disease pathogenesis and stem cell behaviors represents a critical bioengineering stream to prime the development of effective and accessible treatment options for bone marrow failures.
They will be joining a multidisciplinary research team of bioengineers, biologists, and chemists working at the interface of stem cell biology, biomaterials science, and engineering.
There will further be significant opportunities for candidates to interact with orthopedic surgeons and medical device industry partners.
You will work in close collaboration with international collaborators at the Oregon Health & Science University (USA), University of Otago (New Zealand), University of Würzburg (Germany), and University of Pennsylvania, USA.
Minimum Requirements • Terminal degree in bio-fabrication, biomedical engineering, chemistry/materials science, or cell biology.
• Experience with 3D-bioprinting of living cells, cell culture, and rheological analysis of bioinks/bioresins.
Professional Competencies • Highly self-motivated.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to manage collaborative relationships with research project external partners.
Preferred Qualifications • Additional experience with chemical synthesis of bioinks, co-culture of human cells, immunohistological staining, cryosectioning or imaging of 3D constructs.
