We are seeking a Logistics Specialist for our Eugene, OR operations.
This role develops and implements least-cost strategy for transportation and distribution of finished and unfinished products within the organization and customer market by performing the following duties:
Principal Responsibilities:
• Secures transportation availability for all logistical needs.
• Supports transportation functions during emergency situations.
• Follows standardized processes while performing dispatch duties for assigned locations.
• Works with logistics team members to coordinate asset sharing and identify efficiencies.
• Maintain rate databases and assist sales with quotes.
• Develops working relationships with current and new carriers; understands and identifies advantages by engaging carrier strengths.
• Reviews third party performance and carrier sourcing.
• Facilitates communication between sales, customers and carriers as needed for successful, timely deliveries.
• Participates in business development and special projects.
• Contributes to company transportation decisions; exploits cost-savings opportunities for transportation and logistics.
• Participates and contributes to company safety program.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience: 4 years relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to work with carriers, customers service staff, drivers and vendors on daily basis.
• Ability to work as a team member under time constraints and conflicting priorities.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively and respond to groups of managers, clients, customers, and team members.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, database software, word processing software, and presentation software.
