) Office set up budget Annual cost of living increases Exceptional community where employees are supported, trusted, and treated as professional adults About the position South Lane Mental Health is looking for a Substance Use Disorder Specialist II to join our team in supporting the ACT program participants to maintain health, wellness, and stability in the community.
ACT team members provide support to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness living in the rural communities of Cottage Grove and south Lane County.
Substance use Disorder Specialists build helping relationships with participants and help them implement individual harm reduction care plans to support the management of their substance use challenges while working towards long-term wellness goals.
Role and Summary of Duties The ACT Substance Use Disorders Specialist II works as part of a multidisclipinary team and primarily provides individual and group therapy to participants with severe and persistent mental health diagnoses and a co-occurring substance use disorder.
The SUDS II will also supervise CADCI or CADC-R clinicians on the ACT team.
Has been trained on and utilizes an evidence based integrated dual disorder treatment model Well versed in stages of change, harm reduction, motivational interviewing ,and matching treatment to stage Performs substance abuse assessments Conduct individual and group therapy sessions with participants of SLMH ACT program, with a focus on those with a dual diagnosis of substance use and other mental health diagnosis.
Understand and plan intervention strategies for a variety of individuals, utilizing knowledge of a variety of therapeutic models and theories.
Monitor individual progress and make changes to the therapeutic approach and best practice, evidence-based interventions based on individual’s response to treatment.
Work collaboratively with the individual and appropriate others to develop a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses priority needs of the individual, desired treatment outcomes, an agreed upon plan of action, and reassessment.
Assist with providing an appropriate milieu and supports for successful recovery, including aiding participants to meet basic needs such as food and shelter.
Coordinating and cooperating with local agencies and organizations as necessary to expedite treatment for participants.
Understand that many clients have been traumatized and strive to constantly provide services from a respectful, trauma-informed perspective.
Provide Supervision for CADCI and CADC-R clinicians on the ACT team Participate in the ACT Treatment Team Regularly attend ACT team meetings and rounds and collaborate with other ACT team members to identify strategies to provide quality care to ACT participants.
Coordinate care with other members of the ACT team, other providers, families, courts, schools, etc.
as required to help the participants succeed in meeting individual goals.
Complete administrative and continuing education responsibilities Complete all required paperwork, including notes on services and individual participant paperwork, in a timely manner.
Meet requirements regarding productivity and dependability.
Be familiar with relevant fidelity requirements and complete responsibilities in a way that comports with them.
Coordinate with co-workers and treatment teams, including assisting with complex case reviews or family systems reviews, as necessary.
Actively participate in clinical supervision and staff meetings.
Engage in continuing education activities and training, and continually build therapeutic skills.
Participate in completeness and quality reviews as required.
As required, positively represent SLMH in the community and with other service providers, and/or act as a liaison with other organizations or with internal committees/cross-departmental teams.
Perform all duties in a respectful and responsible manner, both with clients and coworkers and in a manner that meets all professional ethical standards.

Position Requirements This position requires a CADCII certification with MHACBO Experience Minimum 2 years and 4000 hours of active Alcohol and Drug counseling.
Some mental health treatment experience, with a focus on the SPMI population, proffered.
Experience as part of a complex treatment team proffered.
Proffered Skills and Knowledge Providing supervision to CADCI and/or CADC-R.
Understand mental health assessment, treatment, and service terminology, and apply these concepts.
Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
Ability to respond calmly and professionally in high-stress situations and respond constructively to clients in a mental health crisis.
Ability to balance clinical, cultural, and ethical values, particularly as relates to client and staff needs.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to interact with people of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team Sound computer and typing skills.
Essential Job Functions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, move, talk, hear, and manipulate equipment, as well as lift and move objects, equipment, and supplies.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Lift up to 40-50 pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific style or type of care provided.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must travel regularly using a personal vehicle to locations throughout the community, including client homes.
The employee works in well-lit, clean environments.
The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.
May work weekends or holidays.
The employee may occasionally work with angry or hostile clients or members of the public, work with toxic substances and biohazards, and be exposed to infectious illnesses.
