*Position: *Peer Support Specialist-In-Training/CRM) *Hours:* Full Time (40 hours/week) *Based Salary:* $19/hour *Reports to*: Substance Use Disorders Program Manager *Location: *Eugene, Oregon *Application Deadline*: Until position gets filled.

*_ *POSITION SUMMARY* This position is for an individual who is interested in becoming a Peer Support Specialist.
A Peer-Support Specialist is responsible for providing peer mentoring services to the Latino and other diverse communities.
The ideal candidate is someone who has overcome any mental health challenge and understands the various pathways to mental health support, recovery, and recovery support services.
They will have experience working with minority communities, including transition-aged youth.
*PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES * · Assist clients in accessing resources and services that support their recovery.
This may include behavioral health, legal representation, employment, physical health, alcohol and drug-free housing, transportation, family, etc.
· Accompany clients to activities or appointments in support of their recovery.
· Assist in connecting clients to the recovery community and other community supports.
This may include AA, NA, or other self-help meetings.
· Use basic knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques to help clients develop and achieve recovery focused goals.
This includes developing a recovery identity and lifestyle.
· Teach and model positive recovery and pro-social skills.
· Maintain all required documentation within the standard time frame and format for all client related activities.
· Maintain confidentiality of all clients protected health information and adhere to all HIPPA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other related policies and procedures.
· Able to facilitate education, recovery, and support groups.
· Participate and engage in outreach, recovery events, and marketing.
· And other duties as assigned by program manager.

*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS * · This position typically requires a High School Diploma/GED (preferred).
· Lived experience overcoming any mental health challenge.
· Must demonstrate emotional maturity and stability.
· Must be a Peer Support Specialist within 6 months of hire.
· Able to establish and maintain professional boundaries while providing supportive services and build trusting relationships with clients, staff, and community partners.
· Good communication, trauma-informed approach, and conflict resolution skills.
· Must be dependable, flexible, and punctual, and have strong time management skills.
· Able to clearly articulate information to people of different cultural, linguistic, and educational backgrounds.
· Able to problem solve and develop creative approaches.
· Ability to work independently and as a team player.
· Must have reliable transportation or maintain a valid driver’s license.
· Able to pass a background check.
*IDEAL CANDIDATE * * Graduated with High School Diploma/GED with 1 to 2 years of post-secondary education.
* Lived experience related to the population being served.
* Understand the different Latin American cultures and be capable of building relationships of trust with people from diverse ethnic, educational, and cultural backgrounds.
* Experience working with youth.
