We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Dance Director to lead our dance program at the performing arts school.
As the Dance Director, you will be responsible for shaping the dance curriculum, choreographing performances, and fostering a dynamic and inclusive dance environment for our students.
The Dance Director position requires a commitment of 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on two days a week.
However, flexibility may be required during peak performance seasons or special events.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Responsible to oversee the dance program for 6 weeks-6yr olds
* Execute original or existing artistic dance movement using elements and skills of dance
* Teach children body, movement skills, elements of dance, & performance etiquette & values
* Create the expression of idea, experiences, feelings, and images in original and artistic choreography
* Teach children to use dance to solve problems & to interpret what a dance communicates
* Demonstrate critical and analytic thinking skills in the artistic response to dance
* Teach children current dance industry literacy, vocabulary, and observations & response skills
* Relate and transfer dance and movement experiences to other disciplines and areas of knowledge
* Provide learning opportunities about dance and movement from different cultures and historical periods
* Teach children how to dance a simple story with a beginning and end
* Responsible to select visual aids, costumes, musical accompaniment and props for performances
* Responsible for sending out observational notes in Kangarootime
* Responsible for maintaining time and attendance
* Must work as stage production for three performance shows
* Mandatory attendance at all three performance shows (Dec, March, June)
* Attend 1 on 1 with Director
* Attend all other required teacher trainings as specified by Director
Position Qualifications
* Has a diverse knowledge of dance genres & history
* Has experience teaching dance classes
* Has experience teaching children’s dance classes of all ages
* Has performance, stage production, and stage management experience
* Has experience creating dance lessons and preparing choreography for performances
* Has experience in tap, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, contemporary, and modern dance at an advance or professional level
* Can physically sit, stand, and keep up stamina to dance with children
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to inspire and motivate students to excel in dance.
* Creativity and innovation in curriculum design and program development.
Qualified candidates are required to have and maintain:
