The Division of Undergraduate Education and Student Success (UESS) promotes academic excellence, universal access, engagement and achievement for the student scholar.
UESS programs focus on the educational trajectory of the student by providing opportunities and services essential for progress toward scholastic objectives and intellectual development.
UESS departments and programs serve the entire population of UO undergraduate students and partner closely with other campus units to support student success and engagement.
The Center for Multicultural Academic Excellence (CMAE) is a unit within DEI and supervised by UESS in a collaborative partnership.
At CMAE, students are empowered, engaged, and nurtured for success.
Our vision is to build and empower an inclusive and diverse community of scholars who exemplify academic excellence and inspire positive change.
Our mission is to promote student retention and persistence for historically underrepresented and underserved populations.
CMAE is comprised of academic counselors and staff who provide culturally competent, holistic and student-centered advising, coaching, mentoring and support.
We develop and implement programs and services that support retention, academic excellence, and success at the UO and beyond.
In addition, CMAE staff work collaboratively with campus partners assisting students in making a smooth transition to the UO by serving as campus and community connectors, thereby allowing students to take full advantage of educational, professional and social opportunities on campus.

Position Summary The Bridge Program Coordinator implements existing programs and develops new programs that connect students from historically under-represented and underserved communities to academic opportunity and support high achievement and educational attainment.
The position is responsible for leading all aspects of the Oregon Young Scholars Program, which prepares students from across the state to attend college.
The position also develops and implements programs that provide collaborative opportunities and partnerships with other bridge programs on campus, with primary emphasis on initiatives related to under-represented, underserved and first-generation students.
Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree; • Two years experience of working in higher education, or experience in work related to pre-college or high school student success programs, with an emphasis on student programming; • Experience developing and implementing programs in a college or university setting, with special emphasis on students of color Professional Competencies • Ability to implement inclusive and equitable teaching and mentoring practices to effect meaningful change and promote student success • General knowledge of the organizational structures and operational procedures in institutions of higher education • Understanding of issues facing diverse students, including students of color and students from underrepresented and underserved populations including ethnic minorities, low-socioeconomic, first generation, and non-traditional students • Ability to work effectively with stakeholders and build partnerships • Strong organizational and written communication skills • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times including understanding of FERPA and other regulations that guide interactions with students and colleagues Preferred Qualifications • Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel Services, Counseling, Academic Administration, or other related fields • Knowledge of Banner, Navigate, Canvas, or other comprehensive higher education-related student database and tracking systems • Experience in strategic planning, retention and/or program assessment • Demonstrated knowledge of standards and NACADA Core Values for academic advising • Knowledge and experience of pre-college programs/academies, high school summer bridge programs.
