Position Description
6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies Block Teacher.
Coaching opportunities and assistance in other extra-curricular programs may be available.
Must be licensed or eligible for license as an Elementary teacher, grades K-8, or Middle School teacher with a Language Arts/Social Studies endorsement.
May be assigned 7th and/or8th grade ELA/SS classes as needed.

Essential Qualifications
The ideal candidate will exhibit a love for kids, a strong history of collegiality and collaboration, organization and management skills, flexibility, creativity, high energy, and an ability to work well with students and parents.
The teacher will work as an interdependent member of the Language Arts/Social Studies Professional Learning Community (PLC) to articulate exactly what kids are to know and be able to do, create and administer Common Formative Assessments (CFA), and plan instruction and interventions based on CFA data.
The classroom teacher is responsible for the instruction and supervision of students.
The use of a variety of methods and materials to implement instructional plans is required.
Qualified applicants must have knowledge, training and/or experience with integrated curriculums, computer skills, collaboration and teaming skills, and cooperative learning.

Salary
Salary will be determined by previous teaching experience and degree level consistent with SLSD Licensed Salary Schedule.
