*Extended Care Lead Teacher Job Description - Age range is 2-5 years * *Reports to: * Director *Pay levels: * Commensurate with experience, education, and French fluency.
*Effective Date: * December 1st, 2023 - June 30, 2024 (Commit for at least one academic year) *Work Schedule: * Monday through Friday 1:30pm - 6:00pm *Job Summary* Under the guidance of the director, supervise a mixed group of children between the ages of 24 months to 5 years mainly in the afternoon.
Help them to learn, socialize, and supervise their play and activities.
Be available and willing to teach and provide a safe and developmentally appropriate program for children in the class.
As needed, work independently and cooperate with other staff to maintain a supportive learning environment, manage behavior, and successfully work with children, parents, and staff.
Support a French language experience for students in addition to communicating in English.
Support language development in both languages, integrating French language routines within the age-appropriate curriculum.
Reinforce new vocabulary and phrases, and use French with other staff members and with parents when possible.
Be willing to substitute for other classrooms or as a float teacher as needed.
Be willing to assist with drop off and pick up as needed.
Assist with snack preparation Comply with our school COVID-19 guidelines.

*Education and Experience* Lead Teachers must meet standards required by the Office of Child Care, as noted in “Division 300, Certified Child Care Centers, 414-305-0320”.
Must be at least 18 years old and meet the qualification requirements of ONE of the following options listed below: ● *At least 750 hours of qualifying teaching experience\* in a Certified Child Care Center, or comparable group care program\*\* in the appropriate age level.
* *● One year or 1,500 hours of qualifying teaching experience in Registered Family or Certified Family child care.
* ● *Documentation of attaining at least step 6 in the Oregon Registry; OR 9 quarter credits in two CKCs (3 must be in HGD or UGB)* ● *A minimum of an Associate’s Degree from a college or university with a major in: *Early childhood education *Child development * Special education *Human development or Child and family studies.
* ● *A state or nationally recognized credential , e.

Child Development Associate (CDA).
* *Required Training: * The following valid training certificates will be required at the time of the interview or two weeks from hire date: a valid food handler certificate, pursuant to ORS 624.
570, Adult and Pediatric (Infant and Child) First Aid / CPR / AED, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN), Prevention is Better Than Treatment (PBTT), Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety (ICCHS), Foundations for Learning (FFL), Safe Sleep for Oregon's Infants (SS), or any additional training required by the Office of Child Care.
Employees will need to have a total of 15 hours of training by the end of the academic year.
*OCC’s Central Background Registry: * All staff must be enrolled in the Office of Child Care’s Central Background Registry.
*French Language: * Staff must work to support our French learning goals by using conversational French and reinforcing and maintaining language routines with students.
Fluency in French will be preferred.

*Physical Demands *: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk or hear students and colleagues, carry items and use hands for multiple tasks.
The employee is also occasionally required to stand, walk, and must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
This includes lifting a toddler and placing her / him on a changing table, as well as lifting them up and gently placing them back on the floor.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.

*Work Environment: * Usually work indoors in classrooms; sometimes teach outdoors or supervise a playground.
Work near others, within a few feet or less.
Working with young children often entails close contact.
Exposed to diseases and infections, such as colds and influenza.
Exposed to loud sounds and moderate noise levels.

*Additional Hours: * Based on events going on there will be times when evening and weekend work is required.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract Pay: $18.
